The Boys' Short Relay TeamCongratulations to the Duniway Track athletes that competed in the Meet of Champions yesterday! This was an intense track meet, with over 300 schools from across Oregon represented. Here are some of the highlights from the meet: The Duniway girls ran two solid relay races yesterday. The girls short relay team of Caydance Mikhelotti, Eva Larson, Kalena Castillo, and Morgan Lee ran a great race and PR'd by a whole second. At the end of the meet, the girls long relay team of Kalena Castillo, Emily Jensen, Natalie Heuberger, and Morgan Lee gutted out an 8 second PR to place 5th in the state of Oregon! Over at the High Jump, Laura Barton cleared 4'10" to place 7th overall. The Duniway boys had an especially strong day on the track! Alexis Saucedo was the team MVP by sprinting to a 5th place finish in the 100m by clocking an 11.92 (which is a new Duniway school record!) Alexis also placed 7th in the 200m, and set another new Duniway record. In the 3000, Kellen Reed improved his time by 23 seconds to place 6th in state, and notch his spot as #1 in the Duniway record book. Things got really exciting when the boys pulled together for the relays. The boys long relay team of Julian Guitaud, Tariku Rue, Quentin DeMello, and Alexis Saucedo ran a fierce race to take 6th. Last, but not least, the boys short relay team of Caleb Hunter, Tariku Rue, Arian Aguilar, and Alexis Saucedo put the pieces together to run a blazing fast 47.40, which puts them at 1st in the Duniway Record books, and 3rd place in the entire state of Oregon! Great job everyone! We are proud of your hard work and success!
